School Age

Our school-age program is designed to stimulate interests and peer interaction in a fun, safe, and relaxed atmosphere.  During the school year, the TCPS Easton Elementary & White Marsh Elementary school buses pick up at our front door in the morning and drop off in the afternoon.

Before School

As the children arrive in the morning before school, they eat their breakfast, if brought from home. They socialize with school mates and enjoy some indoor and/or outdoor play.

After School

The children begin their after-school program with a healthy snack and social time. They then engage in homework, independent reading, and quiet activities. The teacher guides the children in utilizing resource materials, such as dictionaries, calculators, and educational websites. We encourage students to assist others who need academic help and to be considerate of others’ needs and differences.

Another feature of this program is teacher-directed individual and group projects, usually based on a theme or student interests. See some examples in our pictures below.

The last part of the day includes outdoor play, board games, and self-selected activities in the classroom. The teacher offers support and direction, when necessary.

Summer Camp

During the summer, the school-agers choose and develop fun, educational activities around themes and special interests, with their teacher’s guidance. The activities include artwork, science experiments, math, reading, writing, cooking, social growth, outdoor play, weekly field trips, and swim lessons.

In all of our school-age programs, the teacher facilitates the children’s social problem-solving by talking with them, presenting questions, and helping them think of alternative behavior. She gently mediates when two children need to “talk things through,” as a part of building communication and relationship skills.
